Sam Barton is the founder and chairman of Barton Holdings, a privately held portfolio operator based in Cape Town, South Africa. The holding company owns a small group of consumer brands, structured so that each business is run by a face-led operator while Sam runs the infrastructure layer behind them.
He is the co-founder of KAAL, a women's lingerie brand he built with his partner Roxy Louw, who serves as the brand's public founder and CEO. Sam operates as the chief operating officer and systems architect.
Sam built and sold NeverKO, a mouthguard brand, in 2008 at age 21 while still playing rugby in New Zealand. He later held the Head of Growth role at DailyDo during the early e-commerce and email marketing wave. In 2017 he moved to South Africa, where e-commerce infrastructure was still forming and the supply chain was undeveloped. During that period he explored outside commerce: a yoga studio, a retreat company, and a load-shedding hardware product called PWR Hub that wound down once load-shedding ended. He co-founded KAAL with Roxy Louw in 2022 and structured Barton Holdings to hold it.
Born in New Zealand, Sam has lived and worked in Monaco, Hong Kong, and now Cape Town. He has appeared on screen in Power Rangers Dino Charge (2015) and releases music as Bartz on Spotify and Apple Music. He lives in Cape Town with Roxy and their son Xavier, born April 2026.
